Evil Golem

By: Rabbi Meir Kahane

From the book Priest and Prophet Part 1

Evil, wicked, wicked

When an American president once said that “the masses are donkeys,” he was simply repeating an old Jewish expression – “The world is a golem.” The golem, as we know, is a robot that is unable to think independently and is subject to the will of its master. Although everything around changes, for the Jews nothing changes – the “golem” truly remains a “golem.”

I mean the Jew's incredible willingness to believe in every lie, forgery, and cynical trick - as long as it allows him to maintain his illusions and the image of his heroes.

I mean the unquestionable ability of politicians to do and say anything, knowing that their supporters, their followers, their worshippers, will continue to see them as nothing but divinity and truth. All this, despite the fact that if the exact same thing were done by a politician they despise – they would demand the head of the “traitor.”

And I write these things while the cult of Ariel Sharon admirers is spreading among the wicked, who are the wicked, among the masses, who are the wicked.

Apparently, people, especially those who are Jews, have a need for a hero. People have a need to worship someone. After all, God lacks the charisma needed for the modern Jew, who demands something more exciting and thrilling… And indeed, every decade there is someone else to worship. Some new idol.

In the past, it was Moshe Dayan, the man with the one eye and the brave heart of a lion… because the Jews of the Diaspora, who had been humiliated for two thousand years, needed a hero. And now, there arose and became Samson the Jew who struck the Gentiles and gave every Jew in Diaspora pride and self-respect. The fact that this Dayan was of little faith and great fear of the Gentiles, who, together with Golda Meir – another “successful” one – refused out of fear of the American reaction to allow the IDF to strike a preemptive blow the day before the start of the Yom Kippur War – is not important at all in their eyes.

No fewer than four thousand young Jews fell because of the criminal decision of that brave-hearted hero Moses, who was quoted in the first week of that war, when it still seemed like they were heading towards defeat: "We are witnessing the destruction of the Third Temple!"

And who remembers, or wants to remember, that it was Dayan who, during the Six-Day War, opposed reaching the Suez Canal and occupying the Golan Heights, lest Israel come into conflict with the Russians (only divine providence meant that Dayan's orders reached commanders in the field too late), and who remembers, or wants to remember, that it was Dayan who refused to expel the Arabs in 1967, when the world stood stunned by our victories, "lest," as he said, "the world think there is a new wave of refugees." And indeed, he ordered the army to return thousands of Arabs who had fled on their own. Indeed, today's tragedy is to a large extent the work of Moshe Dayan, the hero of the Jewish people. And despite all this, Dayan continues, amazingly, to reside in the national pantheon of millions of Jews around the world. Indeed, they were wronged.

And Golda, responsible for the murder of four thousand IDF soldiers, because of the fear of the world; responsible for the statement that will undoubtedly enter the record book of madness: "I can forgive the Arabs for killing our soldiers, but I can never forgive them for making us kill theirs..." - Nevertheless, this woman remained in the eyes of millions "the only man in the Israeli government..."

And Begin. What can be said about a man who will go down in history as the saddest and weakest of all Israeli prime ministers, while at the same time he continues to reap the admiration and applause of the millions who make up his retinue.

If it were a prize that would have returned Sinai, with its vast oil fields and vast expanses, evacuated settlements and dragged Jews away; if it were a prize that would have prevented the IDF from destroying the PLO in Lebanon and thus causing 650 IDF soldiers to die for nothing; if it were a prize that would have allowed his army officers to take the blame for Sabra and Shatila – Begin and his followers would have taken to the streets to demand the head of the “traitor.” But since it was Begin who did this, the goyim accepts this as a decision “forced upon him.” What a wrongdoer! What a goyim!

Every decade, every year, the Goylem finds itself a new hero. Shamir. He is better than Peres. Why? God only knows why a man who arrested and put on trial the members of the Jewish underground; who is the prime minister of the intifada; whose plan for holding elections in the territories promises the establishment of a Palestinian state; who lied on every issue, except for money for the religious parties; who talks big, but does nothing – is appreciated by the Goylem Goylem.

But worst of all – he is Sharon. Ariel Sharon , the new hero of the masses. He is the "hawk". He is the strong hero. He is serious. He is salvation. The masses. Assholes. The wronged. The wronged.

It was Saturday night, and Begin was about to sign the crazy Camp David Accords. The last obstacle to the signing was Sadat's absolute refusal to allow the Jews to remain in Sinai, and therefore the need to dismantle the settlements and evacuate the Jews. Begin was afraid of one person. Sharon. He called him from the US to ask if he would support it. What else was said in their conversation, we can only guess. But what is known is that Sharon agreed to support it, voted in favor of the Camp David Accords in the Knesset (Shamir abstained), and was then appointed Minister of Defense.

And as Defense Minister it was Ariel Sharon, the "hawk", the hero, the savior, who hovered over the area in his helicopter as he commanded the forcible destruction of Jewish settlements from their homes. If Peres had done this, what would the "hawk" have said? What would the hero have shouted? What would the savior have proclaimed? Crowds. Assholes. Innocents. Defeated.

I know countless members of governments around the world, and even a few in Israel, who have resigned because of principle. If the handling of the Intifada is so bad (and it is!); and if the State of Israel is heading towards disaster (and it is!) – why doesn’t Sharon resign? And what can be said about a man who in November 1987, and again in December of that year, and again after that, called for the conscription of Arabs into the army, and who condemns Meir Kahane for his proposal to expel them instead?

Donkeys are born with limitations. They cannot see; they cannot perceive reality. Human donkeys are different. They can, but they are worse than those with four legs, because they refuse to see and acknowledge reality. That Ariel Sharon is a man for whom circumcision is suspect (and I am trying to be gentle). In an interview with the Maariv newspaper on the eve of the 1973 elections, he said that he supports equality for all streams of Judaism: Reform and Conservative as well as Orthodox, and was in favor of public transportation on Shabbat. Today he is going to the Lubavitcher Rebbe to receive "blessings" in his fight against the election plan for the Palestinians proposed by Shamir - and the rabbi Guillem went into ecstasy.

And all the rest. The resurrection and Geula Cohen (whose hatred of Kahane is more than pathological). In a letter to Haaretz in July 1986, Geula Cohen offers Israeli citizenship to any Arab from the territories who wants it, after the annexation of the territories. And Professor Yuval Ne'eman, truly a good man, the best of all, but when he is interviewed by two French journalists they write: "He says that he is in no way racist and claims that he will agree that his son-in-law will be Arab, as long as, of course, he is loyal to the values of the State of Israel..."

And Rabbi Levinger, who is a good man – just as the Arab he shot in the name of God was not good – but he, as well as the “Gush Emunim” who torpedoed any idea of expelling Arabs and instead nurtured the lie of coexistence (lest they be considered “racists”) – are ultimately responsible for the Intifada and the Arabs who stoned Rabbi Levinger’s own car. (The Jewish Press newspaper in February 1984 reported in a long article about Rabbi Levinger’s trip to the US, in which Rabbi Levinger is quoted as saying: “In Judea and Samaria in general there are no problems. Arabs and Jews work together. Travel together… Not only is it good to live in a settlement next to an Arab, it is good to live together…”).

I could go on and on. But I hope the point is clear to that percentage of Jews who rose above the level of the Goylam; who were honored to rise to a higher level than a donkey. Be honest. Be real. And above all –– it is exactly the same atrocity as the one committed by Yossi Sarid. The “Likud” is no better than “Labor,” and neither, in the end, is “Revival” or “Moledet,” whose leader, Rehavam Ze’evi, called for the election of an Arab deputy speaker to the Knesset, and never tires of denying any intention to forcibly expel Arabs from the country (“I am only talking about voluntary transfer…”). Stop being idolaters. An atrocity committed by Ariel Sharon

To walk as allies with the best of the worst – certainly. But when the question is who to support, join and believe in – the answer is, only those whose record proves consistency; those who have never changed, never wavered, never compromised. Anything less than that will not bring salvation. Never.
